Minecraft Brownie Pull-Apart Cake

Building Blocks of Faith Work

‭‭Nehemiah 1:1-4

Imagine how you can use this brownie pull apart cake for your next “themed” party!

Brownie Pull Apart Cake:

1 box Ghirardelli Brownie Mix

1/3 cup oil

1/4 cup water

1 egg

Follow box directions to prepare brownie batter.

Fill a greased brownie squares pan; filling each square only halfway with batter.  Bake on 350 for 17-18 minutes. Don’t overcook.  Brownies are done when batter is not wet, but still sticks to the knife.  To make a 5 x 5 square design, you will need to double the recipe.

Cream Cheese Icing:

1 stick of butter

8 oz of cream cheese

1 tsp vanilla extract

6 cups of powdered sugar (to make stiff enough to decorate with a piping bag and star tip)

Tip: Use gel coloring to dye icing, but purchase black decorating icing (not cookie icing) for convenience and even results.

Devotional:

“The words of Nehemiah son of Hacaliah. In the month of Chislev, in the twentieth year, while I was in Susa the capital, one of my brothers, Hanani, came with certain men from Judah; and I asked them about the Jews that survived, those who had escaped the captivity, and about Jerusalem. They replied, “The survivors there in the province who escaped captivity are in great trouble and shame; the wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been destroyed by fire.” When I heard these words I sat down and wept, and mourned for days, fasting and praying before the God of heaven.”

‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭NRSV‬‬

The Building Blocks of Faith Work.

Nehemiah felt a God-given burden to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem after decades of Babylonian exile.

But despite of all the factors to consider (resources, skilled laborers, money, security), where does Nehemiah even begin—-in prayer.

And where do we begin, when we have a burden from the Lord to begin a new project or endeavor?
