Peach Cobbler Pound Cake
3 cups flour
3 cups sugar
3 sticks salted butter (softened)
6 eggs
8 oz sour cream
¼ tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp lemon extract
Peach Cobbler Topping
29 oz can of peaches
½ cup brown sugar
2 tbsp vanilla
2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
Cream the butter to a mayonnaise consistency. Add sugar gradually, creaming the butter and sugar for 5 minutes on medium speed. Add in the eggs one at a time. Add the vanilla and lemon extract. Scrape the sides of the bowl as necessary. Add in the flour, alternating with the sour cream—mixing until just combined.
Grease the cake pan well and sprinkle evenly with some brown sugar. Spoon coated peaches into the bottom of the pan. Put remaining peach syrup aside. Pour the cake batter on top.
Bake on 325 for 70-75 minutes or when a toothpick or small bamboo skewer comes out clean. When cake is slightly cool, flip over and enjoy.

Galatians 3: 1-5
You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly exhibited as crucified! The only thing I want to learn from you is this: Did you receive the Spirit by doing the works of the law or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? Having started with the Spirit, are you now ending with the flesh? Did you experience so much for nothing?—if it really was for nothing. Well then, does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by your doing the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
Paul is wrestling with people from two different faith backgrounds who have now come to Christ. There are those of the Jewish faith, who have now accepted the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and are now followers of Jesus. And then there are Gentiles—those who did not belong to the Jewish faith or community, and may have likely had other faith traditions based on what we now identify as paganism or mythology. Paul sees that after conversion, both groups are reverting back to what they know. Many Jewish follower continue to follow their religious traditions and insist that even Gentiles be circumcised to follow Jesus—this is what they have always known. Paul even sees that Gentiles have reverted back to some of their polytheistic worship of the ancient world as well. It seems as though there is a natural tendency for us to fall back into what we know.
That’s why Paul says “having started with the Spirit, are you now ending with the flesh?” The Common English Bible wonderfully translates the question in this way… “After you started with the Spirit, are you now finishing up with your own human effort?”
