Chocolate Peanut Butter Ritz Cookies

Advent Series: HOPE

Luke 3: 1-6

Join me every week of Advent to celebrate the hope, love, joy, and peace of Christmas. And of course…a different Christmas cookie recipe every week!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Ritz Cookies

¾ cup peanut butter (I prefer natural peanut butter)

16 oz semisweet or milk chocolate chips (or sugar-free chocolate chips)

48 ritz crackers

Assemble your cookies on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.

Melt then stir your chocolate chips in 30-second increments in a microwave-safe bowl. When the chips are just melted, use two forks or tongs to dip your peanut butter sandwich cookies.

Place the cookies on your baking sheet with wax paper and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes until the chocolate sets.

Then enjoy!

Devotional:

Luke 3: 1-6

In the fifteenth year of the reign of Emperor Tiberius, when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was ruler of Galilee, and his brother Philip ruler of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias ruler of Abilene, during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness. He went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah, “The voice of one crying out in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways made smooth; and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’ ”

My friend and pastor Rev. Dr. Shirley Redmond offers a special devotion to kick off our Advent season. Her reflection on celebrating the first Christmas without her mom is a heartwarming and faithful reminder that God’s word comes to us in every season.
