Devotional:

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” - Matthew 7:7-11

‭‭God gives good things. Just like the father is willing to give his son an egg, I am willing to give my son a cake that looks like the fantastical jelly car from a video game and matching purple velvet cupcakes! If we as humans can give generous gifts, despite our flawed existence, how much more generous is our father in Heaven.

Jesus pushes our imagination of the kingdom of God: If you who are human and flawed are capable of giving such good gifts, imagine the goodness of your loving father in Heaven, who is perfect. When we pray, we can trust in the goodness of God.
