“You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That’s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God’s family.” Matthew 5:9 (The Message translation)

There is another way—the path of peace—and that peace is what we make it—not by silencing or cancelling each other—but by engaging one another with love and grace.

Recipe:

7Up Pound Cake

3 Cups Flour

3 Cups Sugar

1 Cup Butter (softened)

8 tbsps Shortening

5 Eggs

1 tsp Vanilla extract

1 tsp Lemon extract

1 Cup 7UP

Glaze:

2 cups confectioners sugar

¼ cup 7Up

1 tsp vanilla

Using a stand mixer, cream butter and shortening into a mayonnaise-like texture.  Slowly add sugar and beat well.  Slowly add 5 eggs individually at low speed. Add vanilla and lemon extract and blend well at medium speed (You may need to scrape your bowl occasionally).  Alternate the flour and 7Up—being careful not to overmix.  Pour into greased angel food tube pan.  Bake on 325 for 55-60 minutes.  Remove as soon as a toothpick comes clean.
